Job Search MaterialsAfter reviewing my resume, cover letter, and references, I've come to think my job search materials are fairly good. My resume gives a clear description of what I have been doing and what I have accomplished. My cover letter addresses the job I am looking at and hoping to be called back on, and I also asked him to call me back and have told them I will call them back to check. Finally, my references seem professional and appropriate, aside from Ben Sealey who at a later time could be replaced by someone more appealing. As they are, they will be useful for me during my time in high school. The materials will need to be revised later to be even better looking to much more serious employers. I hope to find a job soon as it is, so these materials may see some use soon. I've included these items to keep them here and to make them available to me from anywhere. They also shopw progress I have made in understanding how to find and apply for a job. AchievementsThe achievements I have displayed are my Varsity Letter for football and a newspaper article I was in. I chose the Varsity Letter because it was an example to my extra-curricular activity. Football is one of the many I am a part of. It shows I worked hard in what I did and helped the team get to where we were. I also put on a newspaper article. The article was abut Wolf Tech, another extra curricular activity. Wolf Tech takes on projects for the school and community in exchange for suggested donations and through these projects, we learn about different areas of manufacturing. We were featured in the paper for using this real world learning experience to help our education. | Transcript Looking at my transcript, I found it is not as good as I had hoped it to be. My grades from my first two years of high school do not reflect my grades now. perhaps I try harder and do more of my work now than I did back then. I do know that during my freshman year I did not do well to complete and turn in my work, which was surely a contributing factor to the resulting grades. I've included my transcript to show the history of my school work and to show I have been improving from the beginning. Thankfully, a change seems to have been made, seeing as from freshman year my grade point average has slowing been climbing up. it has gone from 3 to a 3.547, and hopefully higher this year, if not at least 3.5 again. It is obvious to see how the transcript can show the amount of effort put into school and schoolwork, and this also shows how I have improved how much I have applied myself. I hope to continue to raise my grades and get higher scores after seeing this. RecommendationsFor my recommendations, I chose Mr. Abel as my teacher recommendation and Coach Vandervest for my personal recommendation. I chose Mr. Abel for my teacher recommendation because he teaches the subject I hope to go into in the future. He is the technical education teacher and the classes he teaches for the career path I want to go into are along the lines of CNC and Drafting. So having him fill out the recommendation is a good idea since he knows the field. I chose Coach Vandervest for my personal recommendation because he has seen how I can put effort and hard work into what I do. His recommendation will hopefully show that I can work hard to get to where I need to be. Unfortunately I was unable to obtain an employer recommendation. I was denied a recommendation from my previous employer and was unable to find anyone I had done volunteer work for. I have volunteered before, I was just unable to contact them. |
Feedback
I was unable to obtain feedback in time. My E-portfolio was not ready quick enough to send to a professional and therefore was unable to be reviewed. I'm sure this section could have helped in a sense of what I could do better, what could have been revised or changed to look more professional, if some of my job search materials were up to standards, etc. For this reason I regret not sending my site to a professional to be looked over. Their comments could have been very helpful.
